RECLAIMED TEAK

There are endless variations in teak. DTP Interiors only uses the best quality, originating from ancient houses on the Indonesian island Java. It is given a second life in our pioneering collections. Teak is hardwood timber, eminently suited to fabricate furniture. Natural oils sustain the wood and provide it with character. This makes each piece different and unique. The teak whispers tales of the generations Javanese it has housed and protected.

Cleaning and maintenance
We advise no or minimal treatment of the wood.
• Water or grease stains can be removed with a sponge and water.
• Remove persistent stains with water and soap on a natural base.
• Fierce rubbing may change the colour of the furniture.
• The wood can be protected by a natural woodsealer. This will always change its look and therefore the warranty expires.

RECYCLED STEEL

Reuse of materials is the core of DTP Interiors. Old pipes, demolished ships and industrial waste provide steel that will make up frames, legs, doors and handles. The iron is collected in our foundry on the north coast of Java, where it is sorted, cut and melted. The resulting steel is strong with an industrial look.

Cleaning and maintenance
Recycled steel does not need any special maintenance.
• Stains can be removed with water and a soft soap.

Sometimes it can happen that dark spots appear on the welded steel. This is a reaction to the oil used in the production process of the hollow steel pipes and the primer that is under the paint layer. The oil residues are removed from the outside of the tube, but this is of course more difficult for the inside. The dark spots arise because the oil that remains in the pipes expands through the weld seams. Because this can happen over time, this problem cannot be solved during the production of the furniture.

How to resolve:
• Take the tip of a dry tea towel and rub the dark spot out of the steel with your thumb.

RECYCLED LEATHER

After cutting their patterns upholsterers are left with fragments of the hides they work with. These leftovers are merged into a new sustainable material called recycled leather. It is 70% real leather and 30% polyester. The bottom layer consists of leather, with a pleasant and natural look and feel. This is protected by a sheet of polyester that smooths out all irregularities. The result is a dense material which is soft to touch and easy to maintain.

Cleaning and maintenance
• We advise to avoid treating the leather with a greasy substance. You can clean the material with a damp cloth and a neutral soap if necessary.
• Stains can be removed with a cloth and tepid water.
• Dab, don’t rub when removing a stain.
• Direct sunlight (UV) will cause irreparable change of colour and is best to avoid.
• For extra information please consult www.oranjefurniturecare.com.

FABRICS

DTP Interiors sells furniture upholstered in fabric. We only use fabrics with a high quality durability of 25.000 Martindale* rubs. This means they can be used intensively in the house or at the office. These fabrics match up beautifully with other pieces by DTP Interiors. *Martindale is a machine used for testing the abrasion resistance of seats. The more rubs fabric can take before a couple of threads break, the higher its durability. With a score of 25.000 cycles furniture is suitable for heavy duty use.

Cleaning and maintenance
• Stains can be removed with a cloth and tepid water, using a neutral soap if necessary.
• Always dab, don’t rub when removing a stain.
• A fabric protector will preserve the upholstery even better.
• Direct sunlight (UV) will cause irreparable change of colour and is best to avoid.

WOOL

Wool is the principle component of carpets in the MUST Living Collection. Woollen carpets are sturdy and sustainable and even years of use will leave them looking like new. The wool we use is soft and comfortably warm in winter. New carpets with a cut or shaven pile will drop loose fibers left during production. A higher pile will leave more fluff. Do not pull on tuffs that are loose or stick out, but cut or vacuum them off cautiously. This will not damage the carpet.

Cleaning and maintenance
• For the daily cleaning of our carpets we advise to vacuum them with a smooth mouth on the cleaner. This will prolong its lifespan.
• Remove spilled fluids immediately, for instance with a terry cloth or kitchen towel. Do not rub, only dab.
• The rug will last longer by turning it a 180 degrees every half year or so. This will prevent wear and tear on just one side.

MORTEX

Mortex is a decorative plaster technique based on the natural materials cement and lime. It is applied in liquid form to MDF.
This is done entirely by hand, so each tabletop has a different structure. After curing, the blade is treated with a varnish which provides extra protection against dirt and grease stains.
The result is a durable table with the properties of natural stone. It is waterproof and resistant to heat, tear, wear & scratch.

Cleaning and maintenance
Mortex does not require special maintenance.
• For stains and daily cleaning we advise water and a natural soft soap. This will remove greasy dirt and reduces staining.
• Take care with sharp objects.
• Attention! Strong (acid) cleaning agents, soft drinks, wine, citrus fruits and other acid substances may cause irreparable damage. Corroding into the material acid stains are light, whereas stains by grease or oily fluids have a dark colour.

FIBER CEMENT

MUST Living is always looking for innovative applications and materials. A building material that can be used in interiors: Fiber cement.
The mixture of sand, water, cement and fibers creates extremely strong material with a unique stone structure.
These fiber cement side tables are cast by hand in a mould, so each item has its own unique structure.
Please note that light color variations may occur due to the curing of the cement. This is part to the charm of the product.

RESIN

A various range of furniture is finished with a resin coat. Resin is a grounded stone, for instance a marble or granite, mixed with a synthetic resin. The fluid concoction is finished with a polyurethan coat when set. This top is very hard, but does succumb to small scratches.

Cleaning and maintenance
Resin does not need any special maintenance.
• For stains and daily cleaning we advise a sponge and water. Persistent stains can be removed with a natural soft soap.
Do not use a scourer, a cloth will do the job.
• Watch out with sharp objects.
• Attention! Strong (acid) cleaning agents, soft drinks, wine, citrus fruits and other acid substances may cause irreparable damage.
